ETHER QUEST VOLUME 1: CONFLICT OF COITUS

Ether Quest is my first comic book and my MFA thesis project, with a story centred around a Star Trek-esque team of women vibing down to a planet to broker a peace between two warring alien planets. This comic pulled together three years worth of research into various American Pulp movements and was an exploration into the question of ‘What makes a story Queer?’. Like my other comic, Ether Quest is published entirely on newsprint, which helps encourage the overall ‘vintage’ aesthetics of my work. I want everything I work on personally to look and feel like it has existed since the 50s, and I have happened to find it in my cool aunt’s attic. To me this creates a fun design challenge and allows for opening up conversations around Queer history and visibility to those who are interested to learn more.
