SAPPHIC SCIFY COMICS COVER SERIES
This series of illustrations was my first exploration into the world of what would become Sapphic Sci-Fi Comics. I created this series out of boredom and frustration after reading a series of incredibly sexist, homophobic, and racist Science Fiction Pulp novels. I found the covers, ads, and illustrations to be as alluring as the internal subject matter was revolting. I then merged that research with the readings I had been diving into on 1950s Lesbian Erotic pulps and Queer history of the time. My first comic, The Mists of Solari, was met with intrigue and approval, so I kept going, and by following these ideas over the next two years, SapphicSci-Fi Comics and my first comic were born. When I reflect on the last five years of my practice, I always return to these covers, as they were purely experimental and opened many new doors and avenues for my artistic practice to explore.
